Campus Life - Overview

ペットボトルのキャップ回収運動

At suggestion from students, we have participated in the PET bottle cap collecting campaign. We would like to ask you to save PET bottle caps, and bring them with you when visiting our school.
The Eco Cap Promotion Committee sells the collected caps to recycling firms. Profits from sales will be donated to children who need vaccines through the ‘Japan Committee Vaccines for the World's Children’.

Campus Life - Overview

Learning the Japanese language need not be the only purpose for you to be in Japan. Your stay in Japan will be more enjoyable if you have opportunities to be involved in various events, Japanese communities or part-time jobs.

Make your stay in Japan enjoyable

Various seasonal events and festivals are celebrated in Japan. Students at The Naganuma School will have some opportunities to experience the Japanese culture by participating in local events with local people. There are also opportunities to get acquainted with fellow students from countries around the world by attending school events such as the big year-end party which has a participation of around 500 students from the School.

Safety and health

Japan is said to be a safe country. This is true even in a big city such as Tokyo. In most places in Japan, it is safe to walk alone, be it day or night. However, it's better to be careful, at least to the extent you would be in your own country. We recommend our students to have health insurance in case of disease, injury or accident. Especially if your stay is long, you should consider enrolling in the Japanese National Health Insurance system to receive medical services at low costs.
We conduct an emergency evacuation drill twice a year, where the staff members of the Fire Department provide us with guidance in how to use extinguishers and escape from burning buildings, as well as how to provide emergency medical care, etc.

Costs of living

Because the costs of living in Japan can be high, students need to find effective ways to control living expenditures. The cost of housing is the highest among these expenditures. There are many students who have found rents less than that of normal rental apartments, for example, by sharing an apartment or living in a guest house. Please contact real estate agents directly for apartments or other types of residences.
There are students who have part-time jobs or are receiving scholarships to cover living expenses. Please note that, in order to work part-time, you need to obtain a certificate of eligibility in advance called ‘Permission to Engage in Extra-status-of-residence Activities’.

A meaningful and fruitful year at Naganuma School!

Students at The Naganuma School have opportunities to experience the Japanese culture and communicate with other students from different countries as well as with people in local communities through various events.

Scholarships are available.

We offer scholarships to students, including The Naganuma Study Grant.

Living in Tokyo within reasonable costs

Though the prices of commodities in Japan cannot be said to be low, it is possible for students to find ways to cut living costs

To live a healthy life...

We recommend you to enroll in the Japanese government's National Health Insurance scheme.
